Yet another deal is made to build major film & TV studios in Massachusetts!

Read about it here.

I posted a while ago about the one in Plymouth, MA. The latest on that is here. The project was given preliminary approval at a town meeting in October.

Wow— I wonder if they'll actually start casting people from around here?

Congrats! I hope the region avoids the tax-incentive pitfalls that we've suffered here in the Lone Star state, so that the studio --- along with local actors and crew --- can keep working.

We're enjoying a nice run here in Hollywood South. They've built some facilities, but most post production is still out of state. In the northern part of the state, we have varied terrain & city streets that have doubled for all kinds of places. Weather-wise, they can pretty much shoot exteriors year-round. 'Cept the poor cast may wish they didn't. Ask John Goodman about wearing that Santa suit in JULY in Natchitoches!

We're looking over our shoulder at Michigan. I guess we'd better keep an eye out for you guys in MA, too! The states are already "competing for the jobs." All we need is to have each state pay a yearly fee...and... ! Explode

Utah only has 27 films scheduled to shoot here in the first quarter of 2009. Guess we are just falling down on the job. Speaking of jobs, only about 10% of the crew comes from the state, and less than 3% of the talent.

Congrat's to Mass. and thanks for the update Mary.

Toodles
