Lovers of spiny cacti, Gila Monsters, hundreds of golf courses to choose from, second place Super Bowl teams, warm weather in winter, and a great big honkin' ditch called the Grand Canyon that is.
This February 14th is Arizona's 97th birthday and she doesn't look a day over 300 million when the tectonic plates brought her here. We celebrate by giving loved ones chocolates and flowers and sun screen.
And to all who wish you were here where it never snows, Happy Arizona Statehood Day!!

Wow! looking good. can't wait to visit your state. you can have some of our snow and biting weather if you're missing that tingle when your fingers go numb & warm up again!
Happy birthday Arizona.

What a beautiful photo. I was sad to get to the end of the Arizona Highways calendar that a very swell voice talker and his bride gave to me a bit over a year ago. But that "never snows" thing should be amended since the mountains of AZ are as snowy as anywhere...
Happy birthday Arizona! |

I remember my first visit to the Grand Canyon and being surprised that you can't see it from a distance....
Duh, it's below the horizon.
I felt bad for the tourists on a bus that had come from far away lands only to see a fog bank. _________________ Company, villainous company, hath been the spoil of me...

High five for Arizona!

You bet! With cactus jam for the filling (made extra red with cochineal coloring*) and orange peel zest in the frosting.
97 candles and the fire department on alert.
Mmmm good.

Yep, when you're consuming something really red, like Cran/Raspberry drink, you're drinkin' squished bugs.

A hiker came upon this nest in the hills near Yuma. Bruce, I hope this isn't that common in your great state. We are going to be driving into Scottsdale for a confrence on the 26th and my uncle from Yuma is having heart surgery in Sun City on the 27th.
