Hey, couldn't find my agent to bounce this off of so feel free to
offer a suggestion...
Cold call for a quote on a what amounts to about :25 of
Anncr copy in a somewhat generic infomercial-ish TV :60 -
Usage said to be "various regional markets on Cable."
Non-Union.
Figuring at least one Major in the buy.
Thanks as always for any ballpark ideas on this one,

"do i hear 2502...2502-2-2-......25-25..?"
well, sounds fair to me but i'm
gettin the vibe they're more in the 1K or
less club -
their description is rather vague to even
quote an approximate of Scale. _________________ Mikey ... Vox-Versatiliti

I wont suggest an actual fee, but I do suggest a written contract since the description is o vague.
Spell out the do's and don'ts and the why's and wherefore's. Let them know when and why they will have to cough up more bucks. Determine how you will track usage and why. Spell out what will happens if they decide to use the audio for "new media" (internet) or other large markets and define what are considered large markets.
Is the usage for cable locally, regionally, nationally? Quoting your post: "...various regional markets". What does that mean and what major cities are involved?
Too many questions for me to even come close to a fee idea.
Toodles

If we're going for accuracy then the ammount payable should be your minimum studio fee of around $300 + $35 for every 1% of the potential national audience who sees the commercial. The agency/client will have access to those figures.
If we're going for reality, they don't want to give you any information, they don't want a quote, they only want to know if you'll do the ad for around $1,000. Here's the answer, yes you will. |

According to an AFTRA schedule I looked at, it looks like the 13-week U.S. cable rate is from $426.40 up to $1,833.50 depending on total "subscriber units". Good luck on getting that kind of information from them in Canadian terms.

hey thanks everybody. well despite all good logic here for a fair rate, this one turned out a dud -
producer is likely destined to go with 'the employee with the best voice' or whoever cut the scratch track.
"this economy" is the new cry for lowball rates. lookout below...the bar is
falling. _________________ Mikey ... Vox-Versatiliti
