With the Live Sync settings, could this be applied to VO?

For some reason they don't include vocals. The vocals have to be "added locally later". Don't know why that would be.

The reason this is not designed to do 'voice' - is the sync. Instruments and data such as midi are able to be throughput via the net at a faster rate and with a different compression scheme than voice. Voice needs to be compressed into a small package and a lot of little parts or segments of data (or packets) prior to it's being sent up-line. This 'compression' takes time, which can result in 'latency' or delay when the 'packet' of information arrives at the receiving computer.

As you may have noticed also, it is not real-time in a real-time sense... only after sync. Data is sent via the net in 'packets', and each packet has a time stamp included inside it, but it only will play to the timeline when the last packet in that segment of information has arrived.

What happens is; although the data may be 3 to 4 seconds or as many as 9 seconds late - in getting to the receiving computer, the data is not actually 'played' until the last 'packet' of information is recieved by the computer. It will then be added to the timeline at the place designated as the starting sync point, which has been added to the 'packet' of information sent originally by the receiving computer. This results in the ability to have it 'stay-in-sync' with other tracks.

O.K., sorry if I got a little technical. But this describes why it is so very important to have the right software when doing 'voice' via the net.

(Like: iSpeek - coming soon to a computer near you... I know, shamless plug, again...)

Yeah... what Frank said. But it also hinges on the fact that this service is all midi based...
