After a quick search on the board, I find no reference to this ad, so I'd like to provide a link. If you've already seen it, I apologize. If not, you're going to be amazed.
I am told it took 606 takes, it cost $6,000,000 and took 3 months. I am also told there are no computer graphics or digital tricks.
I think you'll enjoy it!

Thoroughly entertaining!
However, unless that six million was spent to rewrite the laws of physics, I think you've been had. Far cheaper and quicker to hire a digital animation team. _________________ Great Voice. Great Choice. For Voice Talking and stuff.

It wouldn't require digital animation, just practical special effects to "guide" some of the trickier moving parts. For example, the wheels rolling up the ramp move like they're weighted. They might be lightweight fakes. Magnets can guide things, air currents can be aimed from off-camera. The trick is to make assisted motions look like they're moving "naturally". The FX I've done were nowhere near that scale but with a budget and the right team I could make that gag sell. Doc was told "no digital or computer tricks" but not "no special effects."
And a hell of a lot of money went into straight overall production value. Watch again; that whole thing's one unbroken dolly shot. Even shot on HD video it'd be a pricey shoot with tons and tons of that most expensive material--time. And on 35mm, which many commercials still use,.....sheesh. 6 Mil don't sound too bad. |
