Hello, all. Just wanted to share a quick networking story in the event it might help anyone else here who does IVR/Phone System work...
I happened upon a networking event a while back and ran into a guy who sells communications equipment for NEC. Basically, he sells the hardware and plans, plus system servicing on a contract basis. I asked him who his clients use to create their phone system audio, to which he told me that some systems include an upfront recording that NEC contracts out, but they're on their own for updates/re-records/etc. We talked a bit about using my company as a "sub" for some of his jobs: I charge him my going rate to record an IVR/On-Hold/VM's, and he can plug it into the client's contract with whatever upcharge he wants to take for his time. He's happy, as he's got another product to offer (plus a little revenue from it, as well) and I'm happy because he's out doing the sales work.
Just thought I'd share... I hadn't thought of this sort of target group (phone hardware sales) as someone to market to in the past. If you've got a contact in your area that sells hardware, it might be worth it to give them a call. _________________ David Swinehart
