My son had a copy of 1.5 laying around and I thought I might give it a try.
I've installed the ASIO drivers from the Digi discs but am not seeing anything buy my regular soundcard showing up in AA.
Is 1.5 not compatable with Digi's ASIO drivers...or am I missing something?

as much as I know, mbox tends to be proprietary, meaning, the mbox is looking for protools and protools looks for mbox.
That is what I have heard but have never used the two. _________________ Does life start at 40? |

Actually, it's the other way around -- Protools LE software requires Digidesign proprietary hardware present, such as an MBox, to run.
The MBox2 should be recognized by all audio programs that support ASIO drivers. Adobe Audition 2 and 3 support ASIO drivers and I have used an MBox2 with each.
Unfortunately,I believe Audition 1.5 uses WDM drivers only, so no, the MBox2 will NOT work with 1.5.
Oh, and, as required today, ARRRGH! _________________ --Michael

Try using www.asio4all.com as your ASIO adjunct drivers. They will work with AA, and yes, ASIO is supported/available for AA 1.5.
I believe with ASIO4ALL will then allow AA to play with the proprietary PT toys.

Frank,
Should I uninstall the Digi-supplied ASIO drivers before I try the ASIO4ALL version?
Btw - thanks again for all the help....you rock Sir.

ASIO is NOT supported in AA 1.5... AA 2.O was the first to support ASIO..
from "the Focal guide to Audition 2.0"
"Audition 2.0 now supports ASIO compatible sound cards for optimised Low Latency performance and audio scrubbing"
You can also download a Wavedriver from the Digidesign.com site, but I'm not sure if it will work in 1.5...the Wavedriver works under the MME protocol..

Remember ASIO is for 48k, not 44.1kHz recording.
And, yes, 1.5 can support ASIO, but it does need the wavedrivers to help it along and be recognized. ASIO was/is used in the MIDI/Sample portion of 1.5

I am running AA1.5 and am using a board with a USB interface...AA recognized it fine with no ASIO driver install. _________________ Does life start at 40? |

ASIO is basically a driver that offers very low-latency monitoring
ASIO takes the load off of the CPU by offering direct communication between the audio signal and your audio hardware, which drastically reduces the time it takes between when audio begins processing audio and when you hear the result.
Audition 1.5 can't do that because ASIO support hadn't been implemented up to that point.
You can still use an ASIO audio card/driver with Audition 1.5, but
ASIO won't show up in the list of choices when you select your audio device. |

I've been trying to record through my Digi 003 into 1.5 instead of protools but no luck.
The Digi shows up under MIDI in and out and WAVE out on 1.5. But it won't show up under WAVE in. I did download the ASIO drivers Frank suggested.
It might be worth it to me to upgrade to 3.0 if I'm sure that version will play nicely with my Digi. Anyone have opinions on it? Is it as good as or better that 1.5? |

Tom,
That's the same thing that happened to me with Mbox2 and 1.5. Couldn't get AA to see the Digi interface with any of the available ASIO drivers.
I've gone to 3.0 myself. That works fine. Can't give you a comparison to 1.5 though as I never got a chance to use it. _________________ Wicked huge.....in India.

I know this is a very very old topic, but just wondering if anyone can explain - very simply - how to make this work?
I'm using Adobe Audition 1.5, I've got an MBox Mini 2. I've been to ASIO4ALL and downloaded "something" .... I have no idea what I'm doing and I can't hear any audio.
Would really appreciate an idiots guide, if it actually is possible to get them to play nicely together?
Thanks
Natalie, struggling in the UK! |
