Anyone here have this mic and using for Vo's? I'm using the Rode NT1a and I just ordered a V67i for a good price. I'm still waiting for delivery so I'm anxious to know how it sounds. |

One MAJOR difference between the V67I and V69 - the V69 is a tubed microphone.
I, too, use the V69, but have heard good things about V67i. In fact, I have yet to hear any negative reviews on any of the Marshall mics. |

Well, I didn't have a shockmount that fit this mic so I used the clip it came with so It picked up a little noise.
As for the mic. It has a unique sound to it, I'm not sure if I'm crazy about it. I like the bright side better for my voice although the warm wasn't that much different. I'm going to keep testing and get a shockmount. I don't think I will like this mic more than the Rode NT1-a. I also think the AT3035 Sounded better, much cleaner. Again I will keep testing this mic over the weekend as I might be tired. For now, from the mics I've recently used, here are my favorite in order.
1 Rode NT1a
2 Shure SM7
3 SM58
4 AT3035 (I just sold it)
5 MXL v67i
6 RE-20 |

pmd,
If it's that warm sound you're seeking, trade it for the V69... that's what the tube is for!

Okay, The noise goes away with a shockmount. The clip is no good IMO. The mic is warm. As I said before, I like the NT1a better, but this mic is actually pretty good. It takes a little to get it to sound the way you like. |

SM58 I bought back in 1994 when I used to DJ.
AT3035 I bought for 150 about 2 years agos sold 3 weeks ago for the same price. (used to record a couple of demo songs)
RE-20 I don't own, it's the mic they use at work.
The MXL v67i I bought from ebay for $115.00 (will use as prop in a video)
If I could drop the cash at once, I would get a Neumann TLM-103. I will once I generate a consistent cashflow from VO's.
For Now the NT1a is my VO mic of choice! |

I've heard good things about Neumann's newTLM49 which is supposed to sound a lot like a U47 -- at least in some articles I have read. Could be hype, but Neumann is known for quality. Priced a bit more than a TLM103...
