For those of you who love the sound of accents, dialects and the mood of real communication listen to this piece of audio. It's part of a conversation I had on the beach with one of my neighbours .........How's your Scots accent?
Warning one swear word.

Forget about the old saying about the UK and USA being two countries separated by the same language. Your neighbor sounds like he's from a different planet!
Delightful to hear. Thank you, Philip.

What a wonderful lyrical, lilting tone - and the sound of nature as backdrop added to the picture. No, I didn't understand everything either! |

I picked out parts of it, but folks, that is a brogue.
Reminds me of when the gents from the Proclaimers appeared on the Letterman show. Dave literally didn't understand a word they said... _________________ Great Voice. Great Choice. For Voice Talking and stuff.

What do we win, if we can interpret what the lad is saying?
I'd like to use his voice on my answering machine... It would sure confuse the telemarketers!

If it's not Scottish...
I must confess--I have passed this on to some others in the biz. _________________ DBCooperVO.com |

Just in case you wondered, apart from his strength of character and his enthusiasm there is nothing unusual about the way Kenny speaks. It took me a while to tune my ear in to the way the locals sound.
The clip could be used as a lesson in humilty for anyone who says "Hey my Scotch accent is great". |

That is a gem! Reminds me of two things: the guy who lives next door to Hank and family on "King of the Hill"...and my neighbors across the street, both Scots, whose trash I've taken out and dog poop I've picked up...but that's not what they had asked me to do--I just didn't understand!!! _________________ sitting at #8, though not as present as I'd like to be.
