Adeste Fidelis
My father used to sing it in Latin & it still brings a tear to my eye listening to it.
Then there's:
Chevaliers de la table ronde!
This is actually a French drinking song, but we used to sing it with my brothers & father at our Christmas party every year!....yeah, even when I was a kid!...I didn't quite "get it" till I was older!...But it will always be associated with Christmas and bring a smile _________________ Liz de Nesnera O.A.V. ~ Livin' The VO Dream!

What great selections from everyone! I have so many and for years I've enjoyed the quirkiness of "Esquivel! Merry xmas from the space-age bachelor pad."
This year I'm thoroughly enjoying the voices of my 5 and 3 year old as they sing as loud as they can to every holiday song they hear. The car was filled with much joy and happiness last night as they sang along for an hour to holiday favorites. And there was even more over the baby monitor when they were supposed to go to sleep.
Happy holidays!! _________________ 006 member of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Mic. Bonded by sound.

For tradition, I still love hearing Bing sing "White Christmas" from the movie "Holiday Inn".
But for something a little less traditional, I LOVE Emerson Lake and Palmer's version of "I Believe in Father Christmas".

Caryn, you're story gave me goose bumps- what a wonderful memory to have.
My all time favorite Christmas song as performed by the Chieftains, which IMHO is the bestest version;

This one's a close second.. I found a cool version by Siouxsie and the Banshees - the video is poopie though.

Had trouble posting the link all purty from YouTube...but you can still get there.

My 5 year-old has a lovely cold but I captured the two songs she'll be singing for her Christmas Concert on Thursday. You can hear how she has hand gestures for everything, too, which is so funny. _________________ 006 member of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Mic. Bonded by sound.

I was fortunate to help launch the Barenaked Ladies in Canada when I worked for

A friend of mine, Corey Doak, has certainly been influenced by them over the years
and he has come out with his own Elf song this Christmas:
"Scruffy the Elf" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5J_90HwKFo
Dr. Demento, who was inducted into the National Radio Hall of Fame last month,
was quoted recently about "Scruffy the Elf":
My favorite new one so far this year with a nice video on YouTube.
Enjoy! _________________ Ralph Hass

Christmastime Is Here is my favorite Christmas song and my favorite song of all time. Yeah, I am weird....but it is my favorite. Instrumental version first and then the Peanuts version. I don't listen to it all the time...but if I have to name a favorite song, it is always the one I think of first. _________________ Ben

The Coventry Carol would be my favorite Christmas piece, absolutely beautiful when performed by a full choir.
My favorite holiday or seasonal tumes would be a toss-up between Baby It's Cold Outside as performed by Dean Martin (holiday seduction at its finest) OR any of Vince Guaraldi's cool piano jazz numbers featured in Charlie Brown's Christmas, Linus & Lucy or Skating |

I have to agree with Caryn...

I know what you mean there. Like if your troubles were like really big troubles, you could probably see them even if they were miles away. Of course, if your troubles were that big you probably wouldn't be singing any kind of song right then.
I'm thinking that would be like your poetic license being used there. Not enough to get your license revoked, but possibly worthy of a moving violation citation, if you knows what I means.

I love so many, and share most of everyone's mentions already. But there's one CD I really like to play, just once a year, just for funky fun; James Brown's, "Santa's Gotta Brand New Bag".
I want to break into spontaneous dance. _________________ Bobbin Beam
