LA is THE place to make a living as a voiceoverist which is why have I been invited to LA to advise people on how to do it.

I am spending around $6,000 to sit for 90 minutes on a panel of experts at VOICE2010 who will be asked by several people how to make a living as a voiceoverist ...

Yes........I really am THAT stupid!

Yes, but you must remember most of the attendees at Voice 2010 will not be from L.A. either.

To be completely pedantic, nor will most of them be Voiceoverists. To put together a panel with a combined income from VO work of $87.34 and call them experts is a complete nonsense.

Luckily every dim answer to all the dumb questions will be drowned out by a chorus of "Woot, awesome dood".

My goal is to add value to the event by saying nothing. In order to amuse myself I will be taking on stage a colouring book and crayons. Anyone sat near me can help bring the book "At the sea shore" to life. The middle page is entitled "Duncan, Debra and Spot the dog explore the rock pool" and is fairly complicated and should take at least 90 minutes.

Philip,

Since I'm on that panel with you (and very grateful to be included among such august company) I'm pretty sure the combined income is greater than $87.34. Wink However, I do love colouring with crayons, so will be happy to help with that enterprise while we're there. John Taylor, in the meanwhile, can amuse the handful of attendees in the room with his impressions.

I haven't made my $87.34 this year yet, and I'll be the on the same panel, telling others how to make it from the hinterlands of Non-LA.

Except by June I'll probably be living in LA so I'll be a hypocrite or something.

As an LA type you'll have to answer using meaningless vague conceptual jargon which everyone will pretend to understand.

You will hold up a copy of a front cover and say "As I outline in duhtail in my book - I are to be a Voiceoverist ...."

Philip,

I'd call you a sell out for doing this but if you're spending six grand you seem more like a tourist taking his first cab ride from JFK!!!

Although at this juncture I cannot justify spending the wads o cash to get to LA, Phillip has very nearly enticed me. I love to color!

I hope I can make it this year. I'd love to learn how to be a voiceoverist at long last.

Other presentations will be taking place conducted by equally ill-informed individuals.

You mean they "invited" you to participate and they're not springing for the airfare?

I may have to organize a conference, invite all you experts to be panelists, and then buy stock in an airline.
