Jan C. Gabriel, the voiceoverist who gained fame doing drag strip commercials died, somewhat ironically, on Sunday. Here's the obit.

I remember those radio commercials so well from when I lived in Chicago in the 70s and 80s. Rest in Peace, Mr. Gabriel.

This sounds like a bad joke but I swear the first thing I thought of when I saw this was: "oh man, what a drag!"

Nice that his work was recognized...wish somebody could find some of it and play it, that would be great.

oh man ... i hate to hear that! when i was in chicago i did tons of spots for great lakes dragway in union groves, wi ... he was my inspiration.
