Commercial and Narration Demos |
Julie,
You have a wonderfully engaging voice and a delivery that says you've been doing this a long time. Very nice. My only suggestions would be to divide up the 2 demos into 5:
1. Commercial
2. Character
3. Narration
4. Audiobook
5. IVR/MOH
Maybe add a bit of material to each category to get at least 30 seconds of material in each one. _________________ Be well,

Welcome Julie. Did you bring your own chair?
You've probably joined one of most elite VO groups on the entire Web. You'll learn more here than you could ever learn elsewhere. But with all the cake, beer, and food these people drag into these threads, most VO-BB'rs gain up to 6.5 pounds in the first year. _________________ "Bailey"

Very nice first demos, Julie. An auspicious beginning to the VO portion of your career.
Bob's comments on more demos have great merit because you offer a nice variety of reads, but if you don't have the funding to record and edit more right now, go with whatcha got.
Enjoy!

Cake and watercress - sounds awful, yes, but you would be amazed!
(In rehearsal for a live backstage announce gig so I can't listen to the demos until later.) _________________ Playing for a living...

@Bailey: Thanks so much. After I recorded and got my demos back in December, I've felt a little stuck. "OK, now what?" Although I'm taking biz classes with Edge, I've felt a little isolated, and really wanted to connect with other VO artists. I am really glad to be here.
@Bob: Wow, Bob, holy cats, thank you. I really appreciate the feedback, and I'm so flattered. Truth be told, I've only had one paying gig so far, and that was a couple lines of ADR for an independent film. But hey, a paying gig only 2 weeks after I cut a demo-- not bad! I'm pretty proud of myself. I try to practice everyday. My goal now is to work on my stamina for longer pieces like audiobooks.
@Bruce: Thank you! Yes, my goal is to have 4-5 demos, maybe in the next year or so when I get more work and have more to put on them. But at the moment, 2 demos were all I could afford to make, so I tried to use as many styles as I could on the Narration demo, and as many voices as I could on the Commercial.
Thanks everyone for such a warm welcome. |
