Frack Mac Mail!!! the lights went out tonight, so I used my DROID to check the server and I discovered that I have been missing several different emails for DAYS!!!!
Stuff that would not have been caught in a spam filter, new entries in active threads, people in my address book.
ACK.
Was there on the server— not anywhere here on the lappy. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

Yep, I'm learning (slowly and irregularly) to check my spam filters on board and at my host's sites frequently. They don't catch a lot of innocents, but enough to chap my hide, and occasionally miss a good opportunity.
It's kinda like the drunk postman we had many years ago, delivering to the wrong boxes all the time, leaving stuff on the floor of his truck for days, only delivering the easy stuff on "bad" days.

This is not a spam-catching thing. The client is pinging the server and supposedly getting the mail, but it's not displaying in my client's inbox. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

If you can, use IMAP to talk to your server, not POP. IMAP is a mirror of your mail server, whereas POP is simply a data dump to your local machine. _________________ Jeff

Right-o. IMAP seems to do the trick!
Thank you Jeff. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

now remember, it's a mirror, so if you delete something on your desktop client, it'll also be deleted from the server. And vice versa. Anything left on your client, will remain on the server. _________________ Jeff
