I couldn't get past seeing the cup of coffee on the console - a disaster waiting to happen. |

I pretty much lost it laughing at this piece, particularly the end. _________________ Justin S. Barrett

The Darth Vader voice commands for Tom Tom are available now for 13 bucks (8 quid in the UK). C3PO will be available in June, Yoda in July, and Han Solo in August.

I was thinking of recording my own set of Tom Tom commands but decided not to because A.) why would I want to take directions from myself? and B.) the human-recorded voice commands can speak only the standard set of instructions (there are 55 commands in all) whereas the computer voice can also read street names. I imagine the Star Wars voices are similarly limited to standard commands only. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

Thanks for sharing the video, Jeffrey. I blogged that sucker.
And I know how difficult it can be recording these -- I did a series of celebrity impressions for a Garman licensee last year. It was a 12-page script and keeping the voice consistent throughout was very challenging because I knew it would sound much differently later through the actual device because they would be in a different sequence than I recorded them.
I think I did 6 impressions for them in all. The first took 4 hours, but after that I cranked them out in around 2 hours each (except for a couple which were more challenging to maintain consistency). And it was a nice, steady gig. They also want me to come back later this year and record a package of cartoon voice soundalikes for them. _________________ Publisher: Voice Actors in the News
