Hi gang,
Here's the situation...
I'm "sponsoring" a table for the "Chairman's Ball" (an annual event of the local Chamber of Commerce) on August 12th. What this means is VoiceOver USA/Woodlands Radio Network will provide all the table decorations, party favors and a "centerpiece" gift for a table which seats 10 guests (total attendance for the event is 800-1000). The theme for the ball is "Rockin Back to 1957." The table is round (72") and requires that I leave enough space for the dinnerware etc. We are free to promote our company identity into the decorations/favors/gifts etc.
And boy...I need help!
(a) The possible ideas for party favors for each of the ten guests at my table so far include: (1) the usual party hats, curly blow thingees, etc, (2) 50's type sunglasses (think Blues brothers) and maybe some "cat-eyes" sytle for the ladies (3) Maybe a "slinky" or a "frisbee" since they were big in the late fifites, (4) A "keepsake" audio CD "1957 in Review" produced by VoiceOver USA/me featuring music and trivia/facts for the year. (5) ???? HELP!
(b) Possible ideas for the centerpiece gift (which will be awarded to a guest at the table at the end of the evening) include: (1) a radio/cd player that looks like a 50's jukebox if I can find one...nothing in the local stores so far, (2) a kareoke machine...weak idea but better than nothing I suppose (3) ???? EVEN MORE HELP NEEDED!
(this is item c but if I use the normal format as above it puts a coffee cup graphic in) I think it would be great to have a giant, old style, (fake) microphone of some sort (cardboard, inflatable, foam etc) as it would reflect both VoiceOver USA and Woodlands Radio Network (one of the channels is "Fabulous Fifties" so it seems a ready made tie in to me). Does anyone know where I could find such an item? Or, if you have another idea(s) please put it out there. I'm open to pretty much anything.
OK...thinking caps on boys and girls. Davy is brain dead and needs your help! _________________ . If at first you don't succeed, then bomb disposal probably isn't for you. |

Brings new meaning to the term "air guitar" doesn't it? Thanks Jeff...I'll check it out. _________________ . If at first you don't succeed, then bomb disposal probably isn't for you. |

Those echo mics (Toy Connection) are pretty neat. They might make nice party treats. I bought a couple for my nephew when he went to teach English in a Japanese elementary school. I figured it might loosen them up because they like Karaoke. Apparently they went over quite well. _________________ Elaine

The mics are nice looking but I want some of the Sticky Starfish!
We had something similar growing up that left wonderful streaks all over the sliding glass door. Mom hated those things. They'd be great now for distracting the wife.
