|
|
Deadline is Wednesday morning 8amPST for client session.
Many thanks to Bob Souer and Dan Nachtrab for already working with me to bring me to where I am...which is:
My AudioTX unit works great in connecting with other ISDN boxes, but regardless whether it's me calling them, or them calling me.... "they" can't hear me on their end.
I've been through Century-Link's (used to be Sprint) excellent ISDN department diagnostic of my ISDN line...no issues, no line errors.
Long distance is probably not an issue either, 'cause I get the same problem when I make a connection to someone here in Las Vegas with an ISDN box... they can't hear me.
So, in this process of elimination, I guess I'm down to my own audio interface causing the issue.
I'm working with Mo Dutta at AudioTx. Aside from him trying to sell me only THEIR modem and sound-card... he hasn't been much help...but it does raise the issue of the equipment interface. I'm using a Steinberg CI2 (USB) to input my mic to my computer... should I be using a sound card instead?

I tried a USB audio interface and it was a pain, probably a bit too much coding and decoding going on. A soundcard like an M Audio Delta will give you superb quality for a minimal investment.
Having worked with an AudioTX codec for 8 years I wouldn't go back to a "Black Box". As you've discovered, Mo is overdue a refund from the charm school. |

Dave,
The one time I ran into this issue, it had to do with me missing one little thing with the AudioTX audio set-up. Maybe we can catch up on Skype or the phone later today or early tomorrow while you're in front of your computer so we can talk through a step or 2? _________________ Be well,

Thanks, Bob.... I have a theory....check your PM.
I suspect conflicts with either SKYPE or USB ports or both are preventing my audio signal getting through the AudioTX.
I'm learning things....that's the upside I'm trying to focus on.

I'm sure if Conflicts were renamed Hijacks people in IT would understand their nature a little better. |

OK, well, I've bothered Bob Souer and Dan Nachtrab with ISDN endless calls. Whether I call them, or they call me...they can't hear ME, but I hear them. That's the issue. I'm not (as they say in the ISDN hallways) "framing".
I've exchanged many emails with Mo Dutta at AudioTX to no avail. Ultimately, he thinks it's my audio chain. I've used this absolute same configuration of elements before, but obviously something has changed.
I've eliminated possible interference from SKYPE.
I've stumped Dave Immer at DigiFon, and the guys at Ednet said the same thing as Dave Immer: go rent an ISDN box, and try it on your line at home -- hmmm lessee...that's gonna cost a few hundred minimum.
I've talked to both my phone provider and my long distance carrier, and determined that they are not likely the culprit.
Can the collective brain-power of the VO-BB solve my ISDN issue whereas the pros cannot?
I dunno....can it?

I just tried a little experiment. My AudioTX was ready to take audio from my studio but when I connected my webcam the setting in AudioTX changed to take a feed from the mic built into the webcam. I solved the problem by selecting the correct sound source from the input select drop down menu in AudioTX.
As(if) this is not happening for you then, as you suspect, there is a conflict or as I put it earlier you source is being hijacked by something else.
I know that Skype does cause problems for other people using studio kit for both pro recording and Skype although I can't say it's been an issue for me.
As there is no one sitting beside you able to see what is happening it is difficult to make constructive suggestions which I'm sure must only add to your sense of frustration. Should selecting another sound source for Skype therefore leaving your studio mic source free to be routed to AudioTX fail to work then it could well be that a PCI soundcard is the way ahead. |

Dave:
Man, I gave you my best resources!
Try the built-in sound card on your PC and see if that will send audio thru ATX. If so, then it is your USB device driver. If not, then...
Hmmm...
Source Connect is a backup to consider.
You can rent the pro license for $200/week.

Thanks, George (and Kevin) ...I really appreciate it. I have Source-Connect, but the studio didn't want to connect that way, or even bridge with ISDN.
Read my most recent blog to see how this all came out:

Anybody got a used ISDN box they wanna sell?

That just breaks my heart!
But, sometimes these things are just out of our control. No matter how much we want it.
We just have to recover, keep positive and press on. But like you said in your blog, we are blessed to have each other to lean on when we fall.
BUT...daggonit [could have used a lovely British expression there - but let's keep it clean]...no matter how upset you are...fasten your seatbelt next time you go flying down the motorway. OK?! _________________ Intuit and do it!

Ugh... that sucks Dave. It's awful when the equipment goes south and there's nothing you can do about it. |
