Sadly, Leslie Nielsen has died at the age of 84.
He had what actor Michael McKean called “one of the greatest second acts in movie history,”
after stealing several scenes in the comedy blockbuster, “Airplane!”
Nielsen died yesterday at a hospital near his home in Fort Lauderdale, where he was being treated for pneumonia.
A nice tribute on the national news in Canada:

"In a career spanning more than six decades, the Regina-born Nielsen was an accomplished actor on stage
and screen, in both dramas and comedies.... We can be grateful that his most famous performances are
preserved on film and will delight audiences for years to come."
— Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper
Rest in Peace Leslie Nielsen... _________________ Ralph Hass

"A hospital? What is it?"
"It's a big building with patients - but that's not important right now."
Just looking at a picture of Leslie Nielsen makes me laugh... _________________ Happy to be here.

I had the to opportunity to direct Leslie in a small comedy television program I did for a political candidate in Arizona several years ago. Many told me he was a snide and sometimes caustic personality off camera, and they were certainly right, BUT, he still gave me some of the best laughs in memory from the other shows he's done. So hat off to you Shirley....just please be nice to those you meet on the other side.

he will be greatly missed. Between his passing, and director Irvin Kershner, we've truely lost a couple of film legends. |

I'm quite sure I could retire right now and live the life of a country gentleman if I had one dollar for every time the phrase "And don't call me Shirley" has been uttered (or posted) in the last two days. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.
