OK...so you REAL techies may know this already, but I was quite proud of myself yesterday & today!

Because of the 2 feet+ of snow & howling winds we had here, our cable & internet was out from Sunday afternoon through about 2 hours ago.

I really wanted to get a certain audition out yesterday so I figured there HAD to be a way to transfer an .mp3 from my PC to my Crackberry & then email the file over 3G.

Well...there was & I did. Laugh

I installed the driver from the Blackberry CD
Connected the included USB cable to the phone & the PC
The phone was recognized and then I just used the phone as an external hard drive & copied my .mp3 onto the phone's media card.
Then just attached the file to an email I sent from my phone.

I also sent out an urgent telephony job that way, about an hour before our connection was restored.

It won't work for huge files, and the upload is of course a bit slower than Broadband, but for auditions & small telephony files it works great!

Speaking of being savvy in this tech age, the NY Times recently had an interesting list of things a person of low to moderate tech knowledge should know and consider doing:

http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/30/technology/personaltech/30basics.html?_r=1&src=me&ref=general

As someone once said about the new societal Big Wave of the Internet and technology: "We learn how to ride it, or just watch from the beach."
