|
|
Hi there,
I was hoping for some suggestions from my fellow voice over artists!
I have been told that Green apple can "dry up" extra saliva in the mouth, and reduce some the "mouth noises" that the mic always seems to pick up!
Can you name additional suggestions to reduce the natural noises associated with the mouth, teeth, and tongue, not to mention saliva!
Thanks!
John Grossman

Four or five drops of Tabasco in a glass of water as a rinse. A good swish with a glass of unadulterated water will work nearly as well.
Apples can still leave food particles, I'd avoid that method. _________________ Great Voice. Great Choice. For Voice Talking and stuff.

The problem with the apple is that you continuously need to take a bite-- the results are very short-lived.
Get a spritzer bottle and fill it with water-- a spritz or two in your mouth and you're good to go! You don't need to "swish" or anything. Just a spritz to rehydrate. _________________ DBCooperVO.com |

Use a pop filter... and back away from the mic a skosh. _________________ "Bailey"

This is exactly the suggestion Pat Fraley gave us during his Audiobook Masterclass earlier this year. I still have my bottle from his class sitting on my desk next to my microphone. This really works great! _________________ Be well,

Thank you!
Thank you!
Thank you!
I have been on Atkins and the green apple cut in think slices, works, but doesn't mesh well with that diet choice!
I have been drinking a ton of water and using a pop filter and have tried various minor distance shifts from the microphone as well, although I do appreciate the suggestions.
I suspect you are talking about a water bottle that one would water plants, etc with?
I do enjoy this site and this indistry!
Thanks again for the help!
John
PS More suggestions are welcome! |

Yep!
A mister, a spritzer. You can find 'em at beauty supply stores, for one place. _________________ DBCooperVO.com |

There is a product available that is marketed for those who snore. I forget the name of it, but just look in the over the counter medicine department at your grocery store or pharmacy and you'll find it. I find that a quick squirt or two in the mouth area works well.

I use the snore-icide stuff : one is AYR.
Another is: Breathe Right Snore Relief. _________________ DBCooperVO.com |

Right you are m'lady. "Breathe Right" is what I was trying to remember. I get good results from it. I seldom snore during a read these days. Unfortunately, the same is not always true of those who hear my work. |

If I am having a difficult pronunciation day, one or two spritzes of Ayr really straightens things up.
And it smells good. _________________ DBCooperVO.com |

Me too - if I get a script full of words that are hard to pronounce (like "rural"), I spray that stuff right on the page and it all goes away. |

It's a lot nicer than that aerosol Wite-Out you've been telling people about, Mary. _________________ DBCooperVO.com |
