Hey folks! I have a client in Japan who is looking for a vocal booth as she builds a VO business. She would prefer a used one to cut down on costs somewhat, as she is planning on shipping it to Japan. She needs as much sound dampening as possible--apparently the walls in Japan are super thin. Has anyone heard of anything for sale? She's looking for something 5'x4'x7' at the largest or so. Thanks in advance for any replies Smile

Hi

I have a whisperroom booth, I am not selling but just sharing the information. I like mine. It is a double wall, 4x6...

I should say that they are very expensive and VERY HEAVY. It ran me almost 9 grand with delivery charges and consisted of, I hope I remember right, 32 pieces that Ihad to assemble with the help of my friends. One person CANNOT and MUST NOT try do it on his own.
I do not know how she is planning on transporting it to Japan.

I may suggest you go to their website whisperroom.com and research what they have and their prices.

I hope you find this info helpful and useful. Good luck in your search!

A quick suggestion, look at the ClearSonic Iso/translation booths with the absorber option.

www.clearsonic.com/

The basic kit with 5 panels is short but only around $550 USD (don't know what shipping would be to Japan though). (pricing at Sweetwater for drum Iso booth - no lid.)

Here is a concept your friend might look into for ideas: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ClearSonic-Vocal-Booth-IsoPac-F-5-wide-x-5-deep-x-6-5-tall-color-Lt-Grey-/350496915121?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item519b3e7eb1

If your friend bought two and used one as a back panel, adding foam absorption inside, this might be a more inexpensive option.

Similarly, the concept may be easily created with readily available materials in Japan. All she would need is a little creativity and time. Polycarbonate or plexiglass is cheap in her country, as are many audio foam products.

From your description, she needs a combination product which keeps sound out of the "recording booth" and also makes sure noise does not leave her "workspace" and disturb the neighbors. The ClearSonic concept may be what she needs.

Thanks Balky and Frank. I will relay this information to my client. There's certainly a lot of information available to sort through.
