Ed, let us know when it's available for consumption - I'm sure we'll want to be among your first customers...

Is it legal to ship?

Yes it will be small batch done in a traditional pot still. Sour Mash Corn Whisky will be the type.

When the method is totally correct and refined, it would be interesting to put up several bottles of “VO-BB” reserve with the proceeds going toward the care and feeding of this site.

Providing DB gives permission and figuring out how to make it legal under NC and Federal law.

Congratulations on this career choice, Ed. Unlike being a voiceverist, manufacturing alcoholic beverages is a profession that provides an actual benefit to society. Rolls Eyes

Sounds like a wonderful endeavor, especially since it's something you're very passionate about.

I would definitely be interested in a bottle of "VO-BB Reserve"!

Good luck Ed!
If you're in Wilkesboro and know "Stoney" the engineer, tell him I said hello.

The ability to ship between states varies from state to state. This will bear thorough investigation in about 6 to 12 years when your first batch of aged product is ready. Unless you'll peddle fine korn likker, too. Then we'll have to push up the investigation by several years.

John

I have heard of Stoney, but don’t know him personally. Jamee Perkins works at WKBC one station he works for. So you live in what was the Washington District. Before Jack ever made his Tennessee Whiskey my forbearers over in Wilkes were making North Carolina Sour Mash

Bruce

Only requires 2 years in a barrel for straight whiskey. I could put it in bottles then a box inside of a box labeled Microphone.

I’ve got the regularly label designed. No need to do a VO-BB Reserve label.

My daughter works for the largest essential oil house. She tasted a demo (see a voice over reference) of my receipt and proclaimed mine as good or better than Jack D.

The new laws enabling micro distilleries is a great thing Ed. Really cool you have an old recipe to distill. I'll bet its a good one. I have a close friend of the family that's been distilling a recipe for many generations and would drop off a gallon every so often. His 3 year old stuff was smoother than Jack Daniels. I sure do miss it since I moved to FLA.

i have a "friend" in western kentucky who makes some pretty good stuff. i gave quarts away at christmas this year. i have some peach-infused stuff that's smoother than jack - not "peachy" just mellow.

Eddie

When I saw you were in Delray Beach it reminded me of something Junior Johnston once told me.

“ in the early day of the Daytona Race the real money was in the race from Charlotte to Daytona.’ He explained that a bunch of them would meet in Charlotte and make bets on who would have the quickest time. And sometime those cars where personal Moon Shine running cars.

Diane

It's a deal, if you will do a through evaluation, pointing out the good if any and the bad, I hope they are few.

Going on Friday to have lunch with my cousin in Wilkesboro, he is one of the lawyers in the family, then going to the farm to survey the site for the “still place” (an old term use by us Hillbillies)

Wow Ed I'm so glad I got to meet you, you know I'm originally from Bristol.
I recall me and dad went down on state street one time and we saw Richard Petty at a little burger drive in there and dad said it was him..mom said no it wasn't but we went up and i spoke to him for a sec. then we left. But yeah my people were from up in the Fish Dam Tenn. area, The TVA came in there and put Holston Dam where the old farmplace used to be. It's a rich heritage and I'm so proud to make your aquaintence I hope maybe to hear from you from time to time as you progress.
