This got brought up elsewhere, but I thought I'd bring it up on this board so we have it for our permanent record.

In case you were wondering if you can donate your voice services and deduct the time as a contribution on your taxes, I'm sorry to say you can't. Well, you can, but if someone in the gov'mint reviews your return they'll be talking to you in most unkind terms. I offer into evidence a simple explanation of this issue:

You could charge a non-profit a fee and then donate your fee back, but that would get you nowhere and create unneeded paperwork for both parties.

Your reward for donating your time is the good feeling you get, and maybe a little networking action, but nothing directly financial I'm afraid.

Oddly enough this just came up for me recently. There's an educational non-com station I'm discussing imaging work with and they asked about the possibility.
