Howdy gang,
This is a sound sample from my soon-to-be VO closet. I have removed the clothing in here (because I cannot fit into it with them in here...) and ran this test.
According to Amadeus Pro, I think I have a sound floor or around -60 to -65 dB. Not sure if I am measuring this correctly though. When I use my (cheap) dB meter, it is reading about 41 dB ambient noise.

I am leaning towards a bass trap suspended from the ceiling, and moving blankets for this first iteration. Whaddyathink?
Regards,

Your noise floor is low, because your gain is too low. You're coming in at around -24db. When I boosted it about 15 db to a usable level, your noise level was around -47db. And listening, the computer fan was quite noticeable. _________________ Jeff

I downloaded and listened... I agree with Jeff, overall the levels are low and when brought up, the noise (and the nature of it) becomes apparent. Noise floor measurements can be quite misleading (and come equipped with a whole mess of confusing dB nomenclature). The important thing is the signal to noise ratio... no fancy power calculations... it's simply a ratio. Referring to the noise floor is only any good if the assumption is made that the regular working signal level is within a nominal range. _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

Also, you're asking for a critique of a sound that you know is broken: No wall treatment and the computer is not isolated. How about you do the things you have planned, and then give us a sample, so we can help guide you further? _________________ Jeff
