Hello everyone,

I registered today - just wanted to say hi and that it's nice to be here. A voiceover artist I am not - not yet, at least. I'm one of "those guys" with the "nice voice", and I received such comments enough times over the years to eventually take a once-a-week-for-a-month voiceover workshop, by now, some years ago.

All I can say is that I don't think I have a "typical" voiceover voice (if there is such a thing, ha!). I have no studio, but I do have a very basic means to record - useful, at least, for giving a general impression.

I'm also shy and have scruples about what I would record and for whom. (According to the voiceover teachers in the workshop I attended, these attributes may preclude me from having success in such an out-there, competitive field. Fortunately, some years have passed and the internet and possibility of home studios has probably made it easier for people like me to get somewhere...maybe.)

Enough about me, huh? Just wanted to drop in and say hiya!

Cheers

Hey everyone,

Thanks. Well, forget the screen-name, then. Just call me Raph. Dang witness protection program, always trying to keep things under wraps. Wink

Hey Raphael, welcome aboard. You have a great first name. Famous painters and turtles have been so monikered.

Now, if someone could just explain to me the PRE-Raphaelite movement in painting. How did these guys know that Raphael was going to paint someday and glom his style off of theirs works? "Hello, I'm Luigi, and I'm a pre-Raphaelite." "Yeah, and what makes you so sure of that?!"

Thanks Bruce... that's going to bother me all day now!

What about proto-punk?

... and I guess pre-Raphaelite is... what's your dad's name Raph?

But the funniest/most annoying one is when they make a movie set in the early part of the 20th century (pre-1939) and the script refers to The Great War (1914-18), as The First World War.

Sorry... complete and utter thread-jack.

Welcome, Raph - you'll find a wealth of great information here, but the real gems are the people. Glad you're here!

Hey again folks,

For anyone in my generation - or perhaps older - you might note that I have the distinction of sharing my name with one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I was always the recipient of identical, red-bandana-wearing, sai-wielding plastic action figures for my younger birthdays. Wink
