(this post refers to THIS THREAD ~Deebs)
I, like most people, hate cold calling. Especially in my previous job.
I've been reading through this thread and several articles on cold calling as a voice talent. I think I've psyched myself up and am ready to make my first few couple of calls.
I've got to remember that I'm not calling customers in their home, after they've JUST gotten back from work, trying to convince to refinance their home RIGHT NOW!.....Not anymore, I'm not |

And now that I'm three calls in... I've left 2 messages by voice mail and 1 with the receptionist, Karey.
I wondering if it's better to try again another day until I reach the Creative Director personally. |

IMO just make the calls and don't worry about the results.
I can tell you Christian, that probably 50% of my work has come either directly or indirectly from cold calling.
I still hate it though.
But like you, at least I'm not calling people at 8PM trying to see if they want to list their home with me! |

Deebs, I just got stuck in an infinite loop where "this thread" kept referring me back to - er, umm, *this* thread. May need to go lie down now.
I would like to see a link to that other thread, though - was just preparing to dig through the archives for this topic myself, but I'd love to be able to ride Christian's coattails to save time if I could. _________________ jen@jengosnell.com

I think that's called 'Groundhog Day Syndrome'. _________________ "Bailey"

Bleah— my mistake.
I just fixed the link.
Remember, guys, don't resurrect old threads.
As is says in ye rules:
Quote: | Please don't add a new post to a thread that's over a month old.
The doggone dates are just too easy to miss.
Have a blast scouring the archives here but please do not resurrect ancient threads. Start a new one with a reference to the old one. Grab the URL of the thread you like and put it in your post.

Same here. I've grown to like cold calling. It makes me feel empowered. Every time I do it, I think about sitting in a cubicle somewhere. That's motivation enough. _________________ http://toddvoice.com/ |
