I've read about it on some of the music forums I visit but haven't studied it in detail. According to people that have, it performs as advertised as far as knocking down reflections around the mic. Some have misinterpreted that to mean it "sound proofs." Of course not, and as far as I can tell the manufacturer has not made any claims about isolation.
It is pricey. I'll stick with my home made box for a while. Now, where do I put the copy... _________________ Hart Voice Overs Blog

saw it in Guitar Center. Looks like it works good if you are close to the unit with a mic....I would imagine if the room is really live, there is only so much you can do with it. I saw it for like $300??? Seems like a lot to me. _________________ Ben

$300? I agree with you Ben!
Sales must have already peaked on this baby...I see it on the web for $149. Even at that price I think I'll pass this one by. _________________ . If at first you don't succeed, then bomb disposal probably isn't for you. |

Sorry guys and gals... here I go again...
It sounds AWESOME and it works like a charm! Those guys at SE Electronics have done it again. I used one in a friend's studio...bathroom, and it still sounded like a well-padded big bucks acoustic treatment.
You don't want to spend major money on treating your room/walls/whatever...? Get one of these and smile... and smile. If you want to travel and voice some stuff while you're elsewhere on this planet... thank you for globally available fast Internet, thank you for clients willing to have their stuff mailed/ftp'd to them.
Post your amazing sounding voice bits recorded in this SE thing from your hotelroom, nieces balcony, backseat of a car, even OUTSIDE, from the windy beaches of the Greek island of Crete
It is well worth the money if you wanna be mobile without spending a fortune on finding suitable locations to speak or spending a bundle adjusting your room etc. I would give it an eleven out of ten. Tried it with two Neumann's, a Rode, an SE *grin* and a Brauner. Afther that I used a dynamic no budget mike, still sounded pretty much okay...
Do I sound very enthousiastic? Sorry 'bout that
Regards from The Netherlands,
Edo |

Something doesn't make sense. If the blocked area is behind the "mic"... why does it also block sounds entering from the front of the "mic"?
And 300 bucks...? There's going to be some "knock-offs" of that thing pretty soon. _________________ "Bailey"

Cor, these babies are $595 Aussie dollars here - that's about $450 US - a heck of a lot more than in the US.
A kindly store rep said he could "do me a deal" at $560. I'll look into having one shipped, methinks! |

I looked into this a few weeks back and may end up getting one.
One caveat, though. Someone pointed out to me that it is a little cumbersome to place your script somewhere where you can read it while recording your voice track. |

script placement was one of the issues that came to my mind when I first looked at it. (never mind the price)
Bailey, I think your body would block the sound from infront of the mic... at elast with me, there is enough soft fleshy stuff to kill reflections. |
