|
|
A Bodalgo gig/client (European) has a policy of only using international bank wire transfers. My info clearly states PayPal only. The pay isn't bad.
I'm assuming I have to share my bank acct info.. is this safe? and isn't there normally a $35 - $50 fee for an incoming international money transfers?
any info would be appreciated.
thanks |

For what it's worth, I did a gig for an Italian production house and accepted wire transfer for both the 50% up front and the remainder. Went through sweet as anything. Cost me $35 if I remember correctly (which I'd figured in to my quote).
Remember, you're only giving away as much info as you give away when you write someone a check... name, routing code and account number. Personally, I don't think it's a big issue and we give far more away when we hand over a credit card in a restaurant!
It's a fact of life that a lot of bigger companies don't like Paypal and don't consider it as a professional financial tool. _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

My business checking account is there for just such a reason. I only keep a few bucks in it in case something does go south. _________________ We have nothing to fear but fear itself.

Wire transfers are 99.99999% safe so go for it.
I got a large one from often chaotic Kashmir once though, and I was waiting for Homeland Security to show up at my door and ask questions. Didn't happen. Banks do take a chunk for the privilege however.
PayPal doesn't work in some countries so they sometimes have no choice but to use a transfer.

Just ask your bank what the fees are for incoming wire transfers.
One of my banks charged $10, my USAA account doesn't have any fees at all. _________________ DBCooperVO.com

my bank charges $12
you give the routing number, acct# and account holder name and address... location of the bank or branch where funds are sent.
as far as safety, I guess it's not that much different that if you write a check.. the person that gets your check has the routing # and account # on the check and your name, so what's the diff? |

You might get bit on both ends -- I had one wire transfer client, and not only did I lose $15 on my end (which I expected), I lost $15 on their end (I'm guessing from THEIR bank...?)(which I was not expecting...)
Safe, yes, but forewarned is forearmed on the fees. _________________ Always look on the bright side of life.

Every European client I've gotten through Bodalgo has paid me by PayPal with no problem. I suppose it varies by country. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

I have a separate account specifically for wire transfers. I have a Swiss eLearning client that pays that way every month. Works perfectly. _________________ Wicked huge.....in India.

I too have lots of European clients who pay by wire transfer. No problems so far. _________________ Regards,

Just make sure they're not using copper wire.
Yes, I safely accept this method also. _________________ Skype: globalvoiceover
