A friend has offered to sell me his Musicam Roadrunner ISDN codec for $775. Is that a good price or just an OK price?

Run, don't walk. New retail over $2k. Used is often twice what he's asking. I've been watching for one for a while.
Edit.... Just saw one on epay for what he's asking, including shipping. Walk.
(There are also a few Telos rigs in the same ballpark, if you prefer)

Well, too late now. He has dropped it off at UPS and it's on its way. Even if that price is no better than the best one out there, it seems that it is certainly no worse. And I know how this unit has been treated.

To be honest, when I began looking for an ISDN box, I started with the Telos Zephyr... it seemed that anything under $1100 or so had a question mark hanging over it (ebay with no returns allowed, banged about a bit, etc.). Bottom line that I came up with was that anything with a guarantee (or a known pedigree) under $1K was a bargain.

Buying it from a personal contact who used it for VO certainly builds confidence. Remember it has one noisy fan so it will need to be isolated from your mic. If you have trouble with it, Dave Immer is a Musicam dealer and expert.
