Very pleasant, natural, non-fatiguing, clean, but not harsh. _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

Just my input from experience for those considering a booth. My opinions only...not saying this is fact.
One....a double wall booth is going to give you fits with resonance if you have a medium to low tone voice. A single wall would be better if you are not in a crazy noisy area. And of the two booths I have used (GK Acoustics and Whisper Room, GK Acoustics is better at making a booth that has less resonance.
Two. Don't put your booth on a pedestal if you absolutely do not need to. I have found that when mine was on the pedestal, it made things worse with resonance. I had to stuff a few blankets underneath to knock down on it. Think of your booth as a bell. If you touch a bell, it reduces the ringing. That is what the blankets did for me. Which, in turn, probably reduced my isolation from the floor. But whatever works...right.
At this point my booth is in my studio on a wood/pergo floor that has concrete under it...no pedestal. I do not have any issues with resonance in my GK booth now.
But, when I was moving recently...I removed the blankets I had stuffed under the booth in preparation for the move. Wow did things change in my recordings. I noticed popping of my large diaphragm condenser that was not there with the blankets stuffed under.
Just my booth observations if it happens to help anyone. _________________ Ben

That was the best, constructive commentary I think I have ever read. Good job, Ben. |

Thanks so much, Philip. For such a nice comment like yours, you have inspired me to send you one of the blankets I used to stuff under my booth.
Be careful though. All the resonance this blanket has soaked up over the years may rub off and make your already powerful, resonant voice register below 20Hz, thus rendering you inaudible by anyone other than Pygmy Fruit Bats and Asian Elephants.
Seriously though...thanks Philip.....I think. _________________ Ben

Ben, what is the pedestal you are referring to?
You mean the caster plate with wheels? _________________ If it sounds good, it is good.

i'm going to rent a digger today so i can excavate beneath the house and stuff the hole full of blankets. that's probably been the problem all along!
seriously, ben (yo! how YOU doin'?!) thanks for your input, and glad to know you use a gk booth (as does the unnouncer), as that is one i'm considering.
p.s. your site is so slick! _________________ sitting at #8, though not as present as I'd like to be. Hello!

That is right. When in doubt stuff a blanket.
D-Mags...all I can say is I miss ya. I need to get on here more. And I miss Betty Wheelie too. Where has she been? She was a fire cracker. _________________ Ben
