Made me thirsty for a nip or two, and it's far from my drinking time as it's 7am.
What I want to know is how does one become a Master of Wood? That's a title that would be cherished in some circles.

And you SO so nailed the Iranian-double-pause.
It may also make me want to try whiskey again.....maybe. _________________ Liz de Nesnera O.A.V. ~ Livin' The VO Dream!

Philip, you make it look too easy.
Bruce, you're in the wrong business.
Matto, you should share more.
Liz, stick to wine. Wood is much more gentle with grapes.
Bish, admit it.... You're a lightweight.
As for me.... Wood that I got more of all of the above. _________________ Don Brookshire

The rules of Whisky drinking.
Mix it - Use a cheap blend you won't be able to tell the difference between the cheap and the good.
On the rocks - Ice locks in the flavour so CHEAP blend ..even Bells will do.
Single Malt. Island Malts tend to have a strong taste of peat (decomposing Vikings and household bleach), Speyside malts don't. Macallan, Glenlivet, Balvennie are all nice BUT they are NEVER drunk as shots or neat they must be "cut". Measure of whisky into a wide glass. Look at the contents and add at least an equal measure of water, room temperature is best, bottled still water or tap is fine. If it's very cold water give it a minute or so to warm a little. A two to one mix of water is ideal as it unlocks all the flavors in the whisky. |

I simply cannot do whiskey or whisky of any kind (the mere smell of it turns the stomach), but congratulations Philip on making it actually sound somewhat appealing! _________________ jen@jengosnell.com

I tried to become a connoisseur of Johnny Walker when I was 13. Taking sips from mom's bottle hidden in her closet. Weeks later I was shown the mark she had put on the label. I decided then to keep adding water to address the mark, and to keep my butt out of trouble.
And now I see Philip says that adding water unlocks the flavor. It appears I was doing the right thing.
