So I sez to the client, "Can I put these tags in one file, or do you need them in individual files?"
I specifically used the word "need" rather than "want." Naturally, he writes back and sez, "Separate files would be fantastic."
And that's how I spent a couple of hours creating 184 individual "800 Number" tags. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

Lee, I feel your pain. I've done exactly the same thing!
With exactly the same result. _________________ Kendra Hoffman

Poor Lee. But, had he known ahead of time, yes.
Maybe he'll consider looking into W2W for the future... or, one of the things I like about Adobe Audition is the ability to place markers around (and identify) segments that will later easily and quickly export as separate files. This means, should there be revisions later, the markers are easily dragged to a new location to accommodate the change. _________________ Mike

I'm curious to know what the "right" way to handle this would have been. Simply sending the client one file with all the tags and hoping for the best? Without asking first? _________________ www.juliaknippen.com

If there has been no discussion, then I think this is a good approach. The client may have been planning to do it himself anyway... or may not have even thought about it and request the additional work... which may be a value-add to be charged. _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

I've learned to say, "I'll send you the file" no matter how many different bits there are, hoping they don't want my mad slice and dice skillz.
On the other hand I did a video game session (phone patch) in which I only had about 15 lines and short speeches. The director and producers had much conversation between the takes making for a 35 minute long recording with very little me in it. The director said just send the entire file. Sorry, but I like editors too much. I cut out all the silence and crap and sent a 6 minute long file instead.

The last time I did a similar project for this client there were only 25 tags and that's exactly what I did. I probably could have gotten away with doing the same thing this time, but I had to open my big, fat mouth.
It's not so bad, really because, after all, it's all about providing good service to the client. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

Right, that's what I was wondering. Sure, it's more work for you, but if it's just a little extra work and makes the client extra happy, you might get the next job over someone else _________________ www.juliaknippen.com

I have Vox Studio as well as Word2WAV and it has a slicer feature. Just leave one clean take of each tag and a couple seconds of silence between them and it will cut them up and name the automatically after the fact. _________________ Playing for a living...
