I just checked the XLR cable and it's a Lo--Z Mic Cable.
I went to Borders.com and bought "The Voice Actor's Guide to Home Recording" by Harlan Hogan and Jeffrey P. Fisher. It showed up on my doortep in only three days (amazing!) and I will dive into it tonight. I'll let you know if I have any major "AHA!!!" moments...
