For those looking for a decent entry level interface. The MF Stupid Deal of the Day is an iTrack Solo for $80. Normally $110. Comes with the Scarlett plugin suite (I haven't personally used them).

It claims compatibility with iPad as well, but you need to purchase an 30-pin to lightning cable (which I assume makes it incompatible with current ipads with the smaller plug).

Just picked up an iTrack solo for my travel rig. Smile

Have not tested it with an iPad yet but it works well with the Mac Mini. No drivers needed at all.

Sounds pretty good too and it is very small!

Highly recommend one.

Mac

That and the $50 AT2020 on Amazon is one amazing deal. I'd buy a few kits to just have on hand for customers, if I could.

Where are you seeing it on Amazon for $50?

Grabbed an AT2020 from Guitar Center today. Although they first tried to charge me full price ($107), until I mentioned it was on sale ($50). "Oh gosh, you're right, sorry about that". Sneaky sneaky.

That iTrack Solo is a fantastic little interface. Dead simple and works with iOS devices. I've recorded finished work with it to TW for iPad. That's a killer deal!

The iTrack solo is in my travel bag along with the iPad. Love this technology!

MF wouldn't ship to Japan, so I couldn't take advantage of the SDOTD, but I CAN get it up here for about $100, and based on everyone's positive responses, I think I will!

I thought I had solved the crazy short cord issue from the iTrack to the iPad by buying an extension, but alas, the results are hit or miss.. seems like the iPad is very picky about the actual cord that's used..

Also, what mics are folks taking along for travel these days?

Hence the ridiculously short cord... Focusrite had to guarantee it would work.

I think they give you a longer one if you register it.

You`re right, Jason. US residents can get a longer cord with online registration.

Frankly, considering how long it's been out, and the number of ways folks have gotten around the issue (or not), I'm surprised that they haven't made a redesigned cord and made it available as a separate purchase. Seems less expensive/tedious than going straight back to the drawing board, not to mention they wouldn't have to be pushing buyers towards third-party extension cords.
