As a lover of cartoons, I actually knew him as Shaggy first and DJ second.
He also voiced "Bumblebee" in the original Transformers cartoon (until he left over a disagreement with the portrayal of middle eastern characters in an episode, and was replaced by Dan Gilvezan, from the old "Spider-man and his amazing friends" cartoon.)
He was also "Merry" in the animated feature of "The Return of the King" by Rankin/Bass

Agreed.
Just as sadly, Parkinson's has also silenced the beautiful voice of Linda Ronstadt.
