I have always had a notebook next to me in the studio to write down little bits of info while working. It's hard to remember the names of 5 directors in a session, so I write it down. Well, I was at Costco today and noticed this:

Costco has it on sale next week for $24. It is a SUPER great tool for just jotting down quick notes that I just need immediately. They have a more expensive version that will sync with Evernote, but this was for notes that I don't actually save anyway. Perfect external short-term memory tool |

Not to be too much of a wise-ass here, but can't you accomplish pretty much the same thing with a pencil and a pad of paper? _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

Maybe the little stylus on the screen is quieter than a pencil rubbing up against paper intimately... if you choose to write a note while recording. (I am assuming we are having a contest to see who is truly a wise-ass....... |

This is a great idea, thanks!
However, I'm going to use my kid's Doodle Pro board instead.
Doncha just hate it when you have a session and your contact says "Let me introduce everyone: we have here Andy, Allan, Adrian, Ada, and Amy."
Or working with Europeans "Hallo, Lance, this is Pheinke, and let me introduce Kralhzat, Meutti, Obbanit, and Folzhankel" Say wha? _________________ Skype: globalvoiceover

I've had a notebook in the studio for a while...but pens run out of ink and paper gets used up (wasted). So this little guy uses no ink, and no paper, weighs as much as a sheet of paper almost, has a batter that lasts for 7 years AND has a magnetic back...so I can stick it up places. For $24, I like it better than a notebook |

After those sessions I just say, "Thanks so much everyone! It was great to meet you all (or work with you all) again!" I said a wrong name in ONE session. The client didn't care, but the engineer and producer gave me a hard time. They did hire me again though...and I wrote it down |

I'm still using the Sunspots, car shaped post-it's that we got back at Faffcon in Charlotte....along with some other sticky note thingies. Oh, and a Banksie pen too. Write everyones name down, stick it to the monitor in the booth.
I like being able to address everyone in the session by name, even it's just to say "Thanks. Have a good day". _________________ Wicked huge.....in India.

Jason, don't justify yourself to the technophobic nay-sayers!
This is a nice toy... I looked at it and wondered if I could use it. I did the comparison to my normal pen and paper and decided not... but part of me really wants one and could put it to good use (your use case is a good one). Using "pens may run out and paper is wasteful" is a dangerous argument to lean on.
Revel in you techno-joy, sneer at the nay-sayers, and eschew the pen and paper with pride.
In New York, $24 will get you a large pie with a couple of extra toppings. Maybe a soda as well. Costco next week for me... I may just crack _________________ Bish a.k.a. Bish

That is a cool tool, Jason. Thanks for sharing. I really like the idea of the magnetic stickup feature. That will make it handy. I see this in my future.
Like you, I was looking for a note-taking solution and found a free iPAD a called MyScript Memo https://appsto.re/us/0LWMA.i . It takes my hen-scratching and converts it to text, if I choose. While it is pretty accurate, I do proofread the conversion. |
