Long time listener, first time caller.

I have an older AT4033a from Circa 1995 that has been my go to mic since then. For the tech aficionados here is it "If it ain't broke don't fix it", or should I look at the newer AT4050. It's been a great mic and I've taken care of it with kid gloves, cover when not in use etc and I've got a DIY sound booth and the noise floor is great with it but using it anywhere else... it's a noisy beast. It's just that, for me, it's the cleanest for my voice type.

Cheers

I know Bob Souer used an AT 4033 for years before he switched to a Sennheiser 416

Rob,

This is true. And tucked away in some dusty corner of my studio building I still have that microphone, but it hasn't see the light of day for 5 years. It's a good microphone, RJ; but I didn't know what I was missing until I got a better tool for my kit. I haven't looked back since.

Thanks Bob. Time to step out of my comfort zone and test drive some of the recommended mics, especially the 416, I've seen reviewed in these forms.

Cheers
