It appears to me that SC compresses the file when it uploads it. (Though to be certain you should write to SoundCloudy).

So, that being the case, I would imagine what is downloaded is also compressed. Cry

ANYONE with more precise knowledge is welcome to correct me!

Hope that helps.

Thanks so much for bringing this up! I never knew it before, but you guys are right. After doing some searching, it looks like Soundcloud compresses all uploads to 128kbps mp3s for streaming. That's definitely affected my files. At least it's not Voice123's 96kbps...

The good news is Soundcloud preserves the original quality - even lossless - for downloads. So if you allow downloads and someone downloads your file, they'll get exactly what you uploaded. Maybe still a good alternative to Dropbox if you give fair warning?

Just wanted to say thanks for bringing this up again. I've been lurking for a while but just registered last week. You guys are great!

Thanks for the information about SoundCloudy! That is good to know that the original file, when downloaded, is not compressed. Appreciate the correction!

Yes Steve, the micpres on the iD22 are quite good. Some have compared them to one of the Grace micpres. Paul Strickwerda likes them better.

But I wanted a specific combination of mic and micpre that I heard works quite well together. See this link and the comments from Kevin Genus...

George Whittam reviewed the iD22 on Whittam's world and he had one of his clients demo the unit so you can hear how nice the micpres are. Here is the link...
