|
|
A lovely long-time client is attempting to do some work on his own. I don't question this but admit to not knowing what he is talking about. Yes, I'm an audio engineer, but some of this stuff is new to me. If anyone has an answer to his question I would greatly appreciate it!

I used to use Audacity for my Mac but it appears they aren't going to support Yosemite. Are you a mac user btw?
If you can recommend a simple solution for editing audio for this purpose for me, I'd appreciate it. |
Last I knew Yosemite was a park. I feel old. _________________ 006 member of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Mic. Bonded by sound.

The Google says it's the latest OS for Mac... sounds like he updated to the new OS and Audacity no longer works with it. _________________ Chris Rice - Noisemaker

I avoided the Google. It is still upset that I asked why one goldfish is bigger than the other but they were the same size when we bought them. _________________ 006 member of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Mic. Bonded by sound.

This may be a long way around the block, but if he has a Windows emulator that works with Yosemite, maybe he could use the Windows version of Audacity in it. _________________ Lee Gordon, O.A.V.

The question is: does you client want it for FREE?
If not (and depending upon his budget) then there are several ways to go including Twisted wave, Garage Band, Audition, Pro Tools, etc.

Used many different editors over the years. Now using TwistedWave on a mac and it works great!
For 80 bucks your friend cannot go wrong. That's my prescription
Just tested it with Yosemite and it works fine. _________________ www.scottsvoiceover.com - An American voice in Finland

Good to know. Just bought my first Mac (Macbook Air) with Yosemite and as soon as I learn a few more things about it, planning on getting TW next. |

Thank you, Gentlemen. I've brought chocolate cake and throat coat to the break room for all of you to enjoy. I really appreciate the insight. _________________ 006 member of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Mic. Bonded by sound.

Reaper. Full featured and free. Will have a bit of an initial learning curve though.

I'm a reaper fan too. Editing isn't as good as Audition or Audacity (IMO), but it is a great piece of software that supports punch and roll recording. Twisted wave is pretty hard to be as an audacity replacement though. Great bang for the buck and great editing. |
