Uh, no.... The id22 is not yet usb3.0 compatible.

That would be the RME MADIFACE, the 1st, and, so far, the only USB3 capable interface.

That said, I'm with Frank.... No Thunderbutt. Give me direct network connectivity, and the heck with the rest.

Re: Firewire being alive and well... I don't know if you've gone PC shopping lately, but I was in the market for one almost 2 years ago and couldn't find a reasonably-priced computer, both tower and laptop, that still offered Firewire. The one tower I did find that could be ordered with it was I believe $400 more than what I wound up getting... it was actually cheaper for me to buy a new interface. And don't suggest a custom-built box or adding a Firewire card... the fact that it's no longer standard equipment on the overwhelming majority of new PCs means it's a dead technology to all but a very small niche of users. USB is the VHS, Firewire is Betamax.

Don is, of course, right. It's not a USB3 device per se (I don't actually see the need for it to be)... I meant I just poked the connecting cable into the USB3 port on the iMac and it magically worked Wink

Just a quick note for those who take offense at my calling "Thunderbolt" unique names.

In a recent article today about new headphone jacks, the author and Apple fan, called the new-fandangled thing - "Lightening"; not Thunderbolt.

It seems Apple does not even know what to call it's own product.

Apple failed to comment about the article in Wired, but numerous other companies spokespersons retained the moniker. On the PC side of things the USB3 port will do everything and more than "Lighteningbug/Thunderstuff" does and so far it seems everyone knows what it is and how it works.

Jeez... Get your fanboy-isms right... "It just works." Rolls Eyes

As for USB3... Beats most anything else with a stick.

Except for the new micro plug. Ugh. At least it's backward compatible. Rolls Eyes

Dammit... time to refill my Kool-Aid bottles.

Mind you, I am using both my Thunderfart connectors... one for HDMI (driving a 48" flat-panel) and one for DVI (driving a 23" Cinema Display. Yes... that means I have 23", 27" & 48" displays on the iMac... and yes... I'm getting quite a tan.
