Yep. Have a Sony that uses similar technology. It's been around 7 or 8 yrs, now.

From a speed standpoint, it's generally faster than a traditional drive, but slower than an SSD... And, as you might imagine, the bigger the cache, the better. Same goes for the size of the flash memory included.

One final caveat.... Do your research on failure rates for the actual physical drive. Saw a report recently that indicated higher than usual failure rates among a number of 4tb drives.... Including Seagate. This from a mass storage vendor that buys them in bulk.... Just sayin.

I'm not familiar with that drive in particular, but Leo Laporte, The Tech Guy (http://twit.tv/show/the-tech-guy), generally recommends against hybrid drives. He says that they're not really the best of both worlds, more like a marginal increase in speed for some operations.

I don't remember which ones he's been asked about, but you could probably search his site and find a segment or two.
