as un update, the Whisper Room fan (at least the one that I have) that comes with the ventilation system is NOT soundproof.
I ran mine while recording a recent audiobook and am now having to deal with a low, but still perceptible hum swimming in the background. |

Thanks for all of the responses. Interesting. Not as conclusive as I'd hoped.
Also, Elwood, which vent system did you buy from them? I know they have a couple different models.
Thanks! |

It has been about 7 years since I got it, but I didn't cheap out on anything as best as I can remember. Mine has the foam lined "silencers" that are supposed to deaden any sound. The incoming air is not the problem, it's the whirring of the fan outside the booth as far as I can tell.
And my booth is double-walled.
This is the only time I've ever had a noise issue since I bought it in 2008.
Then again, I think this is the first audiobook I've done with the fan on. |
