People with iPads speak highly of Twisted Wave, but I'm wondering if there is an Android app that comes close to providing the same features and ease of use. I'd like to use my Asus tablet for recording the occasional VO and doing the simple editing necessary to use the recording for audition purposes.

There is a TwistedWave online version. You don't need to download anything.

Don't know how it compares to TW on a mac but you might check it out on the TW website to see if it works for you Smile

i use USB Audio Player Pro as well as Audio Evolution Mobile --- both on the play store. you need an OTG cable - but other than that - well --- it works.

I have the requisite OTG cable and have confirmed that I can use my MicPort Pro, provided I plug it into a powered USB hub that I plug into the OTG. In fact, the company that makes USB Audio Player Pro and Audio Evolution Mobile also has a product called USB Audio Recorder Pro and I tested my setup with their trial version. It seems OK, but I'm just inquiring here to find out if there is anything out there that people think is better.

My tablet does not have 4G, so I am hesitant to rely on anything cloud-based because I may not always be able to get online. And the online version of TW seems to be tied in to whatever you have installed, so I suspect that it is also for iOS, not Android.

Yup. Audio Evolution. There's a slight learning curve, as there is with anything, but, as Todd says, it works.

Thanks. I'll grab that from the Google Play Store.

My tablet is sort of an odd duck. It's an Asus TF300T with a detachable keyboard. The keyboard has a full size USB port but, according to the note on the Audio Evolution compatibility chart, "When using the USB port on the keyboard dock, noise is introduced. Using an Asus USB adaptor directly on the tablet, all is fine." I have confirmed this to be true. I can plug in the MicPort Pro and record but the results are unusable. I usually just use the keyboard's USB port for a wireless mouse.

I also have an OTG adapter but that has a standard female USB connection on one end and a male micro USB connector on the other end. It will work just fine with my LG Android phone, but the portion of my tablet that detaches from the keyboard doesn't have micro USB, it has a micro HDMI jack. So I have another adapter (the one mentioned above) that has the same 40-pin configuration as the one that connects the tablet to the keyboard. What I do is plug a powered USB hub into that and then plug both the wireless mouse dongle and the MicPort Pro into the hub. That way I can use a mouse and a mic that requires phantom power simultaneously. I haven't used this setup for a while, so I honestly don't remember if I have to use the hub to get power to a condenser mic, or if it is just needed to use a mic and the mouse at the same time,

I use TapeMachine for basic editing on my LG G3.
