There's something more than a little ironic about SAG/AFTRA asking members to make videos about "what the union means to me" and post them online.
For free.
From today's SAG/AFTRA newsletter thing:
Quote: | Many of the world’s greatest storytellers are SAG-AFTRA members. As our members illustrate daily, excellent storytelling has incredible power. It can educate, empower and move folks to action. This Labor Day weekend, join your fellow SAG-AFTRA members in recording videos talking about how you received your union card and what being a proud union member means to you.
Or simply take a photo of yourself with your card (be sure to cover your member number).
Click here to add your voice and submit your video or photo showing your SAG-AFTRA card. Once you submit your photo or video, please share it on social media with the hashtags #sagaftramember #mystory.

shouldn't each person hire a union crew to shoot & edit the thing? pay themselves scale? run it through a paymaster? _________________ "i know philip banks": todd ellis

Amazing. Sadly amazing. It's 2015. The world has changed. The world's impression of unions has changed. The world's belief in the worthiness of unions has changed. And these guys haven't changed a bit with the times.

You should feel special Todd you're in a flyover state (except Chi-town). They can ignore you twice because (2) as a pre-member you don't exist and (2) you are on the heartland they fly over on their way to the coasts. _________________ Gregory Best
