I got into The Wire way late...finished the series only a few years ago. Since then I've had the pleasure of watching Dominic West and Idris Elba on various BBC projects. I had no idea they were British! Also saw West and Ruth Wilson in The Affair. He did very well with his hard scrabble PA, she opted for generic American, though her character was born and bred in Montauk, Long Island. I'm fairly certain her accent wobbled late in the first season.
