Has anyone upgraded from 3.7 to 3.8 and noticed lower latency with the new receive buffer settings? I love the stability of SC and if the latency can be lowered that would rock...but if it doesn't really change much from 3.7 to 3.8 then I don't know if I personally would need to upgrade.

Just curious!

Nothing hugely noticeable. I have switched to using ipDTL for ISDN bridge sessions and find I don't even think about the latency much anymore.

My Source Connect sessions have been fine. I mainly upgraded for better compatibility with the new OSX.

Sorry I can't be more helpful!!

SC Standard 3.8 allows definable buffers. The low setting will provide 1/3rd to possibly a little more than 1/2 a second less latency.

The reason people might not want such low latency is that it can make the stream unstable. It's all a trade off really. Stability vs latency. Source-Connect will not "mask" errors by stretching time or changing its quality once connected. That is a good thing, especially for the record side of the connection. Usually especially for the record side, a stable stream is more important to achieve compared to a super low latency stream. Thus it's ok for the talent side of a connection to run with low buffers as long as they can understand what being said to them then the record side should adjust their buffers to allow for the most stable possible connection at the lowest latency they would like to risk.
