I've been so good at avoiding colds and flu.... none for at least 3 years now. For one, I work at home so my exposure is lower than the average bear. I always use the sanitizing wipes at the grocery store and curse under my breath when they run out. But last week I spent time in the outside world sharing hand surface residue with lots of folks without washing soon after. I also shopped at a drug store with no wipes ahead of the carts. BAM! Worst chest cold in a very long time. I thought I was going to shred my already sore throat with the coughing.
I was thankful (??!!??) I had very little voice work this week... just little snippets I could sneak in between coughing fits.
I'm not alone. This thing is raging through the Pacific Northwest and I'll bet elsewhere. Next time I'm out in the wide world I'm going to hunt for easily portable anti-bacterial hand wipes and gels and use them.
Want to avoid down time? I say wipe it, wipe it good.

So sorry to hear you're under the weather, Bruce.
But thanks for sharing what still so few don't realize: catching a cold or flu has LOTS to do with the things we touch... because at some point after, we then touch our eyes, nose or mouth. _________________ Mike

Got my flu and pneumonia immunizations this week. I have little bottles of hand sanitizer I pick up with the travel size stuff at Target or a drug store. I keep them everywhere. _________________ Gregory Best

Thanks for the reminder to stop postponing that flu shot. I need to get that done sooner rather than later.
I just got over that same thing as well, with a nasty sore throat a few weeks before that. I live in a perfect storm... my wife is a teacher, my little boy is in kindergarten, and my new day job has me traveling very heavily for the next few months. I should just blast myself in the face with Lysol 6x per day. _________________ John Roorda

I've just done 2 and a half weeks of meet-and-greets and cons. I have been traveling with sanitizer, Airborne, and zinc lozenges. And washing my hands a thousand times a day. So far, so good— and I will be home tomorrow.
