I created myself a little "sound booth" out of a section of a room at home where all my gear is. I used the notch from the doorway and covered the sides of that doorway, covered the door itself, and then created two hinged 28 inch doors that pivot. This way I can create a small 5 foot by 3 foot isolation booth. I can change the acoustics a bit by leaving the pivoting doors open a bit or close them all the way. I even put a bit of drop ceiling in over that area.
Yeah, light. I'm doing that part now.
You can see I also covered the back of the doors with carpeting. I live right near a University, so there are lots of students living in the neighborhood. This way when I'm not needing to record, the two folding doors flatten out against the closet doors to the left, leaving the same amount of space in the room as before.
I've also installed an interior storm window to cut down on outside noise. _________________ Try to imagine a world where there is no such thing as hypothetical situations.

Looks a lot cooler than my sound booth, but that may be damning it with faint praise.
The real question, of course, is how it sounds. So... do you like it? |

I see so many doing great work with much less effort in the home studio. I'm first a hardware guy, so that's how I attacked the profession. It's definitely slap free. _________________ Try to imagine a world where there is no such thing as hypothetical situations.
