I posted this as a reply to Elwoods ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR A SKYPE PHONE PATCH WITH PLAYBACK? and thought it would be easy to find in Search if it was a separate subject.

Here's a free setup to run a playback on skype. Use these two for your skype sessions. It takes a little tinkering to set it up but I tested it on the skype echo and it works great. I'm using Windows 8 and the Focusrite Forte
I can playback any prerecorded audio from Audition 3.0 or browsers in the skype session.
Just mute your mic while you playback to avoid feedback.

I do reset my audio setup in Audition prior to a session and then revert afterwards for regular day to day recording. I could just use the mute on Voice Meeter main out when I want to playback regular stuff to avoid echo. For me I think just setting up for skype and reverting after a session is best.

It seems to make a difference in the order things get turned on and set.
1. Open Audition
2. Set Audio Hardware to Voicemeeter
3.Open a new file in Audition.
4. Open Voicemeeter
5. Open Skype and call.
The picture of the Voicemeeter is when you are playing back audio from a recording. You will need to unmute your other party to hear them again after playback.
