David Kaye is getting tired of swapping out his two U67's for service, especially since they have two different cables and power supplies (one a modern unit), each time they exhibit problems (which has been a lot lately). What mic do you think would be a VERY close replication of the U67?
Peluso P67?

I want to get him a demo of one of these soon.
We got a Mohave MA300 but it was too dark, didn't have the sheen.

Thanks for your input, VO-BB folks! Sorry I've been so quiet lately, I've just been about as busy as I want to be lately.

If you can find a Telefunken U67 they are the same.
You might inquire on Klaus Heine's mc forum about where to find a replacement.

In view of another conversation that has been going on about the proper usage of the word "Clone", what I am interested in hearing is someone with the experience AND THE EARS who could declare the the CURRENT model that Neumann makes (and can be purchased now) that is most like the apparently no-longer-made U67.

But then again, maybe you and the client have already had that conversation and concluded that Neumann doesn't make such an animal today. Get Lost

Spending $4000 on a modded mic is interesting but not as compelling as a $2000 P67 from SoundPure... getting a demo from there to test.
Also inquiring about a demo of the Slate VMS I've seen at NAMM the last few shows.

Try this: .vintagemicrophonekitpcdkit.com

They can be created to sound very similar to the original U67.

Was searching this issue a long time ago. There are a couple of Joly mics that might be close.

Here is the link to one - the modified TCM 1050...

http://www.oktavamodshop.com/product_info.php?cPath=2_28&products_id=251

And the one I seriously considered was his...MJE-K47H Capsule Head plus MK-012-01

If your client checks them out I would really love to hear his thoughts !
